Imran Khan targets poverty and corruption in Pakistan election victory speech
Imran Khan used his PTI party platform to campaign for an end to corruption and dynastic politics in the country but his opponents say he's had to rely on the military for support and there was ballot rigging in yesterday vote. The PTI victory has not been conclusive though...it's likely they'll have to look for coalition partners to govern. Inigo Gilmore rounds up the day's developments.
Pakistan's former sports-celebrity-turned politician, Imran Khan, in his televised election victory speech Thursday pledged to tackle poverty and endemic corruption through a revamped governance system in the country. In his brief speech, Khan also spoke about how his party intends to deal with foreign policy challenges facing Pakistan. Khan delivered the speech as about 90 percent of the results from Wednesday's parliamentary polls already had been compiled.
